Classroom Renovations

The classroom at the fire academy has recently undergone some needed renovations to replace the roof and ceiling support beams.  The existing beams will be removed and Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) Beams will be installed to support the roof and ceiling.  Once the existing beams are replaced, the drywall on the ceiling and walls will be repaired, and the classroom, entrance, and hallways will be painted.  The project is expected to be completed in time […]

2013 Annual Meeting

The Washington County Firemen’s Association annual meeting will be held 8:00 PM at the Mt. Pleasant VFD in Hickory on Friday July 19, 2013.  Election of officers for the 2013-2014 fiscal year will take place between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 PM.   Doors open at 6pm and the voting polls will be open until 8pm, at which time the annual meeting will start.  Please be sure to bring your current department and/or individual membership […]

Construction Project

The association has embarked on constructing another structure at the training grounds.  Construction has begun on building another garage (24’ x 28’).  The location of the new garage will be up close to the training tower across from the classroom building.  This will afford easier accessibility to equipment being used during training and certification testing, and offer students and certification candidates a place to don their turnout gear (PPE).  We will keep posted at the […]

Junior Firefighter Camp

The 3rd Annual Junior Firefighter Camp kicked off today with 19 students enrolled. Students were greeted this year with a guest speaker Chief Darryl Jones from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. He spoke with the students on Monday morning about this year’s topic; ‘Why it’s important to train in today’s fire service’.
